Xsomo - Paper to Digital

The Summit
The Government of Jamaica's Central Information Technology Office (CITO) will be organizing and hosting a Regional Summit on the 17th March to address Information Security, with the full support of the Ministry of Commerce, Science and Technology. For the first time in our Region, Fujitsu, IBM and Microsoft, the three main Regional suppliers of computer security products and services, will be co-operating and sharing a platform at this summit. The event also has the support of the Jamaica Computer Society, who will be organizing a technical briefing session for Security Officers on the day following this Summit.

The summit deliberately targets BOTH the Senior Executives and the Heads of Technology of larger public and private sector Enterprises in the Region. Two separate but parallel streams will be held for each group on the day. Each stream will have identical topics but with different presentation content, tailored to support the decisions made by each of these Executive groups. In a plenary session, at the end of the day, we will pull the streams together, and present a structured approach to computer security planning and implementation.

At the end of this summit, you will understand:

  • The threats and vulnerabilities you face, and sources
  • Imperatives for delivering trustworthy and secure internet services
  • Using International Best Practices and Standards
  • Doing risk assessment, and calculating the benefits of securing your data
  • Trends and direction in data security - from the major players
  • Convergence and data security issues - physical and computer; public and private sector; legislative frameworks and practices; and practices to create and maintain trust
  • The mechanics of developing a plan for improved security
  • The critical implementation hurdles and issues you will face
